Tolling Bell

Tolling Bell

For a moment, silence,
For the time being, peaceful ambience,
For a second, soundless,
For the moment, noiseless.

And then, it rang,
The tolling bell sang,
Like a mighty gong, echoes,
Throughout the village it goes,
All could hear,
Far and near,
The bell that has stood for years,
The sound that they heard for years.

The bell tells the time,
For everytime it chimes,
Whether it was time to rise and shine,
Or when it was time to dine.
The bell that stands proudly,
Forges itself in our memory,
From the time it was gold and shiny,
Till it became brown and rusty.

For a moment, it was quiet,
For awhile, an empty bracket,
And then, the tolling bell sings,
And life continues its cycling.
